Longham Reservoir back open 26th January 8am
UPDATE: LONGHAM LAKES WILL REOPEN TO THE PUBLIC TOMORROW (Wednesday 26 January 2022).
Avian influenza H5N1 was recently confirmed at Longham Lakes. It was brought to the lakes by incoming wild birds and is the same strain that has been reported across the country in recent months.
We have been monitoring our bird population closely and we are pleased to say that the situation has improved significantly. We will of course, keep this under review.
UK Health Security Agency advise that the risk to public health is very low. However, we do ask you to stay off the foreshore, remain on the designated footpaths and keep dogs on leads at all times.
If you do find a dead or sick bird, PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH IT. Simply report it as soon as conveniently possible to the South West Lakes site team on 01202 581411.
Thank you for helping us keep Longham Lakes a safe and special place for people and wildlife.
