Also please return gate swipe cards when you sign in. |
The committee of RDAA are pleased to announce that following a suggestion on the forum, six tickets to fish Avon Tyrell lakes have been negotiated. Time is very short before the season starts and therefore it has been decided to lodge the tickets in the nearest tackle shop to Avon Tyrrell, Ringwood Tackle, where Richard has kindly agreed to administer the permits. For this the first trial year of fishing Avon Tyrrell, Richard will administer and account for the permits as equitably as possible and provide feedback on the numbers of anglers using the facility. Avon Tyrrell is a youth activity centre and hence may not provide the tranquillity some desire however for other younger anglers, parents can be satisfied that all staff at the centre have had a criminal record check and a comprehensive risk assessment of the centre has been undertaken. More details can be found on the Avon Tyrell website by googling the name. Angling rules are available at Ringwood tackle. Please provide feedback of your experiences on the RDAA forums so we can determine if it is worthwhile extending the trial to future years. |

| Disabled Anglers (20-04-2010) |
This is a statement by the RDAA committee to clarify some of the issues that have been raised regards access facilities we as a club provide for disabled anglers. Firstly the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 (DDA) provides a broad definition of disablement and the rights of individuals particularly but not exclusively with regard to access to public services such as benefits and the NHS and rights in employment. The Committee of RDAA fully support the Act and undertake to provide no restriction on joining the club and to work to provide the best access to swims and as comfortable and safe swims for anglers whether disabled or not. To this end we have improved and continue to improve access and parking particularly on our owned waters and invested in level fishing platforms which provide for optimal comfort and safety for fishing. Because the DDA defines disability very broadly then it is not possible to provide facilities specifically for all types of disability however we are investigating improved fishing platforms specifically designed for wheelchair access. It will still however remain the individual angler or their cares decision to assess whether the provision we make is safe and secure for that person and their specific requirements. With regards identification of specific swims for the disabled we are investigating the liabilities we would have as an organisation in making such a statement. There exists in providing special designated swims the requirement for regular inspection and safety checks and it is not clear that as an organisation relying on unpaid volunteers that we could make that commitment. Currently we charge a reduced fee for the registered disabled, this is in recognition that such anglers may have reduced ability too enjoy the full breadth of waters that we offer. Historically we offered a special disabled rate, this category is no longer applicable and will be removed from the website and next print of the book. To enjoy the reduced rate access to the club disabled means those anglers who can show registered disablement with local council or blue badge holders. To summarise RDDA exists to provide the best fishing with easiest access and safe comfortable swims to fish from for all anglers. We are actively investigating improved access and platforms specifically for wheelchair users but can make no firm commitment at this point on time scale. |

| LOWER STOUR AND CHRISTCHURCH HARBOUR (18/11/2009) |
Ringwood and District Anglers Association is delighted to announce the completion of negotiations for the fishing rights downstream from our lower boundary of Throop Beat 3 right downstream to and including, Christchurch Harbour. This is on a long term lease and will commence from January 1st 2010. Down to Tuckton Bridge this is an exclusive to RDAA, water. The currently available areas running down through Iford and Tuckton Bridges and the whole of Christchurch Harbour where fishing is permitted, will be available to RDAA permit holders and allows fishing for coarse, game and sea fish. Full details of the extent of the areas where fishing is permitted and other restrictions will be published on our website as soon as possible and will be included in the next print of the permit book in the spring. RDAA members will also have the right to fish from a boat using the two boat permits that have been included in the agreement. At this stage the committee is looking into the best way to make this benefit available to members and it is likely we will allow members to use their own boat or hire one whilst we investigate the logistics of purchasing our own boats. The Agreement includes increased commitment to anti-poaching measures and in addition to our own bailiffs there will be a Bournemouth and West Hampshire employed bailiff, which RDAA is contributing to the cost of. The harbour has areas of outstanding natural beauty and sensitivity and the protection of the environment is of paramount importance. We consider ourselves extremely privileged to be able to offer this very considerable additional benefit to our members and whilst there are significant costs to RDAA it is envisaged at this stage that we hope to be able to absorb the costs without the need for an increase in membership fees in 2010. |

| Club carp record broken (02/04/2006) |
The capture of a 40-05lb mirror carp from Hightown has taken the club into a new league locally. Although there has been a number of unsubstantiated reports of carp over the magic 40lb barrier nobody had officially claimed or reported. On Saturday, 1st April Symon Walker decided to finally join the club and chose Hightown as the venue to start his campaign to bank some of our wonderful carp. Arriving in the dark on Saturday evening, fishing through the night and into Sunday. A smallish fish of 16lb found his bait sometime on Sunday morning with the MONSTER picking up a margin fished bait later in the day! The picture is in the gallery and will no doubt find its way into a few weeklies, very well done Symon. A full account to follow. Photo now in Club Records Gallery!! |
| A hard line to be taken against litter louts (02/04/2006) |
The message does not seem to get through to some people so the committee and bailiffs have decided to take a zero tolerance view to litter on our waters. Anyone fishing the offending waters will have name and membership number and swim noted and if litter is found in the swim after it has been vacated the committee will be informed. I know this is severe and unfair on the innocent anglers but it is the only way we believe we can resolve an ongoing problem. There are no excuses for litter, it is carried to the swim and there is no conceivable reason why it can not be carried back! |
| 2006 Open weekend: 26th-27th August (02/04/2006) |

We are also trying to arrange for a junior/inexperienced coaching day on the wash pit on the Sunday with qualified EA coaches, full details of the whole event will follow shortly. |

| Carp Fishing Education Day (04/02/2006) |
We are currently organising our first (and hopefully not our last) educational day for members, juniors and anyone else who wishes to come along. There will be expert advise/tuition and demonstrations from one of the top names in carp fishing today, namely Mark Huchinson. Also Korda and Carp Addict are confirmed with many other top names and manufacturers hopefully confirming before the event. As and when I will add to the list. The emphasis is on education and understanding the limits of yourself and your gear so please bring along your own tackle and let the guys advise and help. On the day there will be education/demonstrations of: Safe distance casting practise, Spodding, Marker float setting, Throwing stick accuracy. Ringwood Tackle will have a number of rod and reel combinations to try out on the day so if you have a set up you wish to try let Richard or Ash know and they will do their best to get it there. The wash pit will have some actual fishing tuition so it should be possible to see some fish being caught or even have a go yourself. We are setting a number of competitions throughout the day with some fantastic prizes donated by top named manufacturers so come along and enjoy a fun packed day and you never know, you might just learn something! Members carrying a current permit and juniors (accompanied by a responsible adult) will have free entry but there will be a charge of £2 per head for all non members to cover costs. Any additional info please speak to the bailiffs or contact Darren on: 07702 300384 / darren@ringwoodfishing.co.uk |
